Stumps as you probably know can be the pretty pesky remains of a tree. The problem with stumps is that they are not going to produce another tree. At least it is not likely that they will do so. Just Leave It Be 
 
The main problem with leaving stumps as they are is usually not the stump itself. One of the main issues are the roots. These will continue to grow even without the top part of the tree in sight. They can spread towards areas where they can become a threat to existing structures. So, just leaving the stump as is, can really be a toss-up. That is why we usually advise people to make a decision on their stumps. At the very least what you can do is keep a watchful eye on the stump to make sure that it doesn’t grow out of proportion.
 
Can You Grind The Roots? 
 
Obviously digging underground to grind at the roots may be totally out of the question. In these cases, the best thing that you could do would be to remove the stump altogether. That said, this is not a dumb question at all. A lot of stumps have roots that are sticking out of the ground and make it tough to walk on that area. If the roots are actually on the surface we can grind them and make a smoother path for you to be able to walk around in that area.
